But the problem here is that you don't know what is affiliate marketing, how it works, and how to get started. I want to say that I know how you feel because I've been through the same situation.

When I start searching for ways to make real money online, I found that Affiliate Marketing is the best, That's why I was excited to learn about it, and I want you to learn about it too. So my goal here is to make it simple and easy for you to understand the basics and become an affiliate as soon as possible.
To do that we will start by explaining what is Affiliate Marketing.

What Is Affiliate Marketing?

Simply, Affiliate Marketing is a way to promote an online business(products and services) through affiliate programs and advertising that pay the affiliate (or publisher) a commission for generating sales, leads, and/or clicks for the merchant’s web site.

To make it easier to understand, You will just recommend a product/service to someone who needs it, and when he decides to buy using your link, you will get a commission.
The percentage of the commission depends on the product you promote and the merchant you deal with, the range goes from 4 percent to 100 percent.

Now let's see who are the participants in the affiliate marketing model:

  • Merchants (Advertisers/Brands)

Companies or individuals that sell a product or service. Industries include marketplaces, retail, e-commerce, direct-to-consumer, subscription services, financial services, travel, telecom, food, gaming, and more.

  • Affiliates (Partners, Publishers)

Ambassadors of brands. They can be bloggers,  social media influencers,  personal website owners, product review websites, etc.

  • Affiliate Programs

Also, called affiliate networks. Their role is to manipulate all tracking, reporting, and payment to affiliates.

  • Customers

They are the audience that affiliates look to influence so they make a purchase,  sign up for a newsletter, submit a lead form, or test out a service, etc.

How Does Affiliate Marketing Work?

How many times have you told a relative or friend about a product or service that you like that resulted in them purchasing that product or service? I want you now to imagine doing the same thing on the Internet, but on a much larger audience, and imagine that the companies you refer to this audience to pay you a commission for your referrals. That’s exactly how affiliate marketing works.

This basically means that you can start a business from $0 and make easy cash, without having to create your own website, product, or even write a single ad copy.

This is why affiliate marketing can a good starting point for those newbies who want to have an idea of what it is like to have an online business. It allows them to work with their own schedule, using other people's efforts and resources, to gain profits while educating themselves in the process.
When starting an affiliate business, you do not just go right ahead and choose the ones to lid out in front of you. There are certain criteria you need to understand before choosing one. Not considering these things can result in wasted time, resources, and profits.
Here are few steps that you can follow in order to be a successful affiliate marketer:

1. Fix your target market(niche).

First, You must identify and target your audience. Simply offer people what they need and want. Many affiliates repeat the same  mistake that consist of giving out these things to the wrong persons.
The result? No buyer and no sales for you. Why would people buy something they do not require?
Do you think people will be interested in you offering them a blogging course when they are into fitness? Not many will be.

It is best to know your audience first to be able to offer them the right product or service.

2. The quality of the products or services.

The second mistake affiliates make is that they promote a product or service that ends up not delivering what it promises.
It is always better to try the product first before recommending it to others. This will  increase your credibility and sales.

3. Check the sales letter.

Check out the product’s website and sales copy before you send any traffic over to them. Ask about important things like conversion rates and visitor values.
Always Put yourself in the customer's shoe. Will you be willing in buying the product or getting the service? If you answer positively to this question then many people will be too.

4. Check promotional methods and recources available.

Most affiliate programs provide their affiliates with ressources to be used in marketing. The more tools are given, the more chances of you making that sale.
Since the materials are already made for you, you can focus more on marketing.

5. Check the commission's percentage .

Another thing you must consider is how much you will be paid, for your promotional efforts. A higher commission percentage can be a huge motivation to place a higher focus on a particular product.
Try to seek out products or services with a higher-end pricing or those that present residual income
The five points above are just some of the important factors to consider in order to start affiliate marketing in the right way.
If you want to become a super affiliate and get huge checks every time from affiliate programs, Then you need to continuously educate yourself with the knowledge required for affiliate marketing success.

Finally, There is a lot of opportunities out there for those who want it. It does take some effort during the first months, but if you stick with it and be consistent, you can expect to earn extra income, stay at home with your family or quit your 9-5 job just to work few hours a week.
The best advice I can give is, start now, learn while you practice, test to see what works, and stick with it.
